I've mentioned this here before, but I feel compelled to mention it again because To Every Tribe Ministries has revamped their website. Don't click on the link if you don't want to be challenged and stretched and inspired.
To Every Tribe Ministries was started by David Sitton, a hardcore pioneer missionary (I think that's redundant). I don't know him too well, but he's a friend of our family's. I remember hearing some crazy stories about his decades in the bush in Papua New Guinea and I remember him during wintertime in Oklahoma standing with his arms around the circular chimney in the middle of our den because PNG winters aren't quite as cold as they are in the midwest. I've corresponded with him some, and hope to do more in the future.
Last month he was the missionary speaker at the Bethlehem Conference for Pastors with John Piper. I plan on ordering the CD of his message as soon as it becomes available. Pioneer missions got a lot of exposure at the BCP, which is exciting.
For now, here are some missionary quotes from the TETM site:
I have seen, at different times, the smoke of a thousand villages – Villages whose people are without Christ, without God, and without hope in the world. – Robert Moffat, 1795-1883, pioneer missionary to South Africa
We do not truly understand the gospel if we spent all of our time preaching it to Christians. The gospel is a missionary gospel. It is a communication of Good News to people and in places where the name of Christ is unknown. – David Sitton
If we are going to wait until every possible hindrance has been removed before we do a work for the Lord, we will never attempt to do anything. – T.J. Bach, 1881-1963, missionary to Venezuela
We visited sixty-six islands and landed eighty-one times, wading, swimming (to shore). Most of the people were friendly and delightful; only two arrows shot at us, and only one went near – So much for savages! – John Coleridge Patteson, 1827-1871, Melanesia
Unless there is the element of extreme risk in our exploits for God, there is no need for faith. – Hudson Taylor, 1832-1905, China
If you are ever inclined to pray for a missionary, do it at once, where ever you are. Perhaps he may be in great peril at that moment. – Amy Carmichael, 1867-1951, India
At the moment when I put the bread and wine into those dark hands, once stained with the blood of cannibalism, but now stretched out to receive and partake the emblems of the Redeemer's love, I had a foretaste of the joy of Glory that well nigh broke my heart to pieces. I shall never taste a deeper bliss till I gaze on the glorified face of Jesus Himself. – John G. Paton, 1824-1907, pioneer missionary to New Hebrides
"It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation. Rather, as it is written: 'Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand'" (Romans 15:20-21). – The Apostle Paul, missionary to the Gentiles and Christian martyr

Greetings in Jesus’ name. I have listened to David’s message called “Missionary Martyrs”, and it has moved me. I want to get a hold of him, but the website toeverytribe.com doesn’t work. How can I get a hold of their ministry? Can you help? I’m a missionary in Mexico, looking into going down into the unreached jungles. Thanks! -Josef http://www.puregospeltruth.com
