I’m studying right now, and I don’t want to be. Cindi is setting up our new apartment at Oak Manor right now because the carpets just dried from their steam-cleaning earlier today, and I would much prefer to be helping her. This is a lesson in endurance. Endurance is pushing through (with excellence in both attitude and action) something that you’d rather not be doing. Biblical endurance is pushing through (with excellence and godliness in both attitude and action) something that you’d rather not be doing, because you are utterly convinced of something promised in the future, the receiving of which is dependent upon your perseverance. Generally I enjoy studying and learning. Right now, I’d rather be doing something else. But I want to be trained to serve as a minister of the Gospel for the glory of Jesus Christ. That is my aim. So back to the books, and back to learning essential lessons, as much through the process as through the material itself.
